THE WORK · THE PLACE YOU LIVE IN

The house is doing something to you.

Remote clearing, elevation and protection for homes, businesses, farms and land. No furniture moved, no colours changed, no visit required.

WHAT THE HALL TOLD YOU IN TEN SECONDS

Everyone who has ever chosen a house has had the ten seconds in the hall. Before the kitchen, before the boiler, before a single one of the questions you came to ask — something decides. This one.

That feeling is real. It is also not evidence that the house is good for you.

A place has a level it runs at, and so does a person. When the two are close, the place reads as comfortable — and comfortable is not the same as good. What you recognised in the hall was, in a sense, yourself.

Which is why people move to get away from a bad chapter and find the same conflicts starting in the new kitchen instead of the old one. Sleep does not improve, or improves for a fortnight. The business that was going to turn a corner in the new premises does not turn it. What was supposed to be about the old house turns out to have moved with the furniture.

Comfortable is not the same as good.

WHAT TRADITIONAL FENG SHUI DOES NOT TOUCH

Traditional feng shui rearranges a room. This does not touch the room. It works on what the place is holding. Most places are holding something.

Some of it is what people expect: a house that has never felt settled, a business where nothing quite lands, a room nobody wants to sit in. Some of it is more specific than that, and worth naming plainly rather than gesturing at.

WHAT THE PEOPLE BEFORE YOU LEFT

The harder part is not what a place is holding. It is who put it there.

What happened in a house has a way of happening again to whoever comes next: the marriage that ended in it, the illness somebody had in it for years, the three businesses that failed one after another on the same premises with each tenant told in turn that it was the footfall. The practice's position is that this is neither coincidence nor superstition — it is the place, still holding what occurred in it, and quietly making more of the same likely.

This is what the practice has found, in house after house, on most continents. It is not offered as proof and you are not asked to take it on faith. You are asked one thing: to think about the houses you have been in, and whether you already know this is true.

A house cannot be redecorated out of what it is holding.

WHAT IS CLEARED

Spirits and attachmentsnamed directly, because it is one of the most frequent reasons people make contact, and calling it "stagnant energy" would help nobody.

Long-standing bad luck in a placethe run that never quite breaks, in a building where it has never quite broken for anyone.

Black water and underground waterstreams running beneath a property, and water that has gone wrong. One of the oldest observations in the field, and among the most common causes of a bedroom nobody sleeps well in.

Ley lineslines of energy crossing a site. Not a problem in open country. A different matter where one runs under a house.

Curses and directed ill intentan unfashionable idea in Europe and an entirely ordinary one across most of Asia. It comes up far more often than the first half of that sentence would suggest.

Electromagnetic loadwiring, cellular masts, electricity pylons, the substation nobody mentioned at the viewing.

Land with a historywhat happened on the ground before the building existed. Land, unlike buildings, has usually had a very long time.

This is a belief-based account of what a place holds. It is not science and it is not medicine, and the practice does not pretend otherwise. It treats no illness and promises nothing about health, money or luck. What it does account for is why people ring in the first place: something has been wrong in a house for years and no builder, surveyor or electrician has ever explained it.

WHAT IS DONE

One

Consultation

A conversation about the place, what you notice in it, and what you want life there to be like. Remote.

Two

Assessment

The place is read from the address and the plan alone — what is in it, and where. No visit.

Three

Clearing

What is in the place is taken out of it. Not quietened, not worked around — taken out, however long that takes.

Four

Elevation

The place is not left where the clearing leaves it. It is raised.

Five

Protection

What has been done is closed off and held there. You are told what to watch for over the following weeks — usually somebody in the house saying something about it before anybody has told them the work was done.

CLEARING IS ONLY HALF OF IT

Taking what is wrong out of a house leaves you with a neutral house. That is an improvement and it is not the point.

The second half is elevation. The place is not left at neutral; it is taken well above it. The aim is a home that sits at the level of the old sacred sites rather than at the level of an ordinary building. This is the part people describe when they say the house feels different the moment they open the front door — and it is the harder half by a long way.

Not tidier. Different.

Then a boundary is set around what has been done, so that what was raised stays raised.

A room can be cleared by others, and it drifts back: within weeks, and certainly inside a year. What she does holds. There are very few people anywhere in the world who can do that at all.

WHAT PEOPLE NOTICE

Sleep, most often, and first.

Then the temper of a household — whether people are short with each other in the evenings, whether anyone actually wants to sit in the room nobody ever sat in. In businesses: whether people are glad to arrive, whether decisions stick, whether a client stays a little longer than the meeting required. On farms: soil, crops, animals, water.

None of it is promised to any particular household. It is what people report afterwards — and telling somebody else is the only way this work has ever been found.

HOMES, BUSINESSES, LAND

Homes

Houses, flats, and the occasional whole block. Families ask after years of it, not weeks — usually when one person has stopped sleeping and nobody can say why.

Businesses

Whether a team works with each other or around each other. Asked for most often after a move, a bad run, or taking on premises where the last three tenants did not last.

Farms and land

Larger sites have longer histories and generally more in them, and the ground is worked before anything standing on it. Organic growers ask for this more than any other single group, which surprises people until they think about it.

New beginnings

Moving in, opening, renovating, inheriting. Far better done before a place has had two years to work on you.

WHO DOES THIS

The work on places is hers, and it is a discipline of its own rather than a branch of anything else on this site.

She also works on ground nobody lives on — mountains, coastlines, whole countries — with a group of ten or twelve behind her, because that much area cannot be covered by one person. A house is not the small version of that. A coastline is split twelve ways; a house gets all of her, and then has to be held at the level she left it at, which is a thing a coastline never asks for.

Clearing a building is the part most people ask for. Raising it is the part she is known for.

WHAT THEY PUT IN WRITING

What people write afterwards is usually about something small and specific: a night's sleep, a tree, the temper of an office at half past five. One client arrived having already been told, by several people in turn, exactly where her problem was. They all named the same room.

All the feng shui masters said my bathroom was the problem. They asked me to put up a screen. I did. They also said to put up crystals. I did. But it doesn't work.

Private client · Before her home was cleared

She had been given the room to fix, over and over, by people who were competent at fixing rooms. Nothing was wrong with the room.

The longest account on this site begins in an office nobody would stay in after half past five, and it starts here.

I moved to a new office and found that I was extremely tired and would get exhausted after less than one hour, and just wanted to leave. In fact I could not stand being in the office for more than a few minutes. I also noticed that everyone left around 5.30pm, and people looked tired and not well.

What he found out next — about the roof, and about what the night staff would not go near, and what happened to the company in the year after the building was cleared — is on the Stories page in his own words, along with the tree, the rainbow and building 29.

Questions

Questions

Say where it is, and what has been wrong with it.

An address, a sentence about the place, and how long it has been like that. You will get a straight answer about whether this is the right thing for it, from the person who would do the work — including, if that is the honest answer, that it is not.
